Nominated for The Blog Awards Ireland.. What?!

I just wanted to write a really quick post to let you guys know that Beauty, Lifestyle, Ramblings has been long listed for Best Newcomer Blog and Best Beauty Blog in the Blog Awards Ireland.

I cannot thank you all enough for voting. I'm in shock. I know I don't stand a chance but to actually make it onto two lists of nominees is amazing... I've only been blogging since late last year and the fact that some of you think this blog is good enough to nominate is overwhelming.
I just want to sincerely thank you if you voted for me and even if you didn't but you're a regular reader, thank you for coming back for each post.
Blogging has changed my life for the better. I have something to focus my energy on, something that I really enjoy doing. Something that gives me a reason to stay positive. I've met so many great people and made a couple of really great friends over the past few months and that's something I never expected to happen.
Thank you all so much, I mean that from the bottom of my heart.

Belfast Haul

It's been a while since I've posted a good ol' haul so I thought this would be a good opportunity to show you guys the goodies I got in Belfast!

I ended up buying a couple of outfits and cute bits and bobs in Primark and New Look, a lot of items in Boots and a couple of things in Debenhams.

I'll start off with hair and makeup:

Treseme Keratin Smooth 7 Day Smooth System - This is a shampoo, conditioner and heat activated treatment that claims to smooth your hair and leave it straight even through 4 washes. I did try this out once whist in Belfast and I've got to say, I was rather disappointed. Now, if you live in Ireland or the UK, you'll know we've been experiencing some extreme heat and humidity. I washed my hair before bed, blow dried and straightened it, went to sleep, sweated out my body weight and woke up with curly hair. I think the fact that my hair was actually wet from sweating (ew, I know) is what made it curl. Now that I'm home and the weather is calming down, I'm going to try this out for a couple of weeks and get back to you guys with a full review.

Real Techniques Starter Set - I love Real Techniques brushes and I've really been wanting to try the eye brushes out. I didn't want to spend nealy €30 or £25 so when I saw these in TK Maxx for £14.99, I ninja moved my way through the crowd and swiped them up.

Real Techniques Blush Brush - I've been loving this for applying my setting powder, it gives a completely flawless finish.

Schwarzkopf Got2B Guardian Angel - This is a heat protection spray that according to staff in my local Boots, doesn't exist. I decided I best buy it while in Imaginary Product Land.

Bourjois Magic Nail Polish Remover for Hands and Feet  - This polish remover makes it so quick to take off your nail polish and now you can use it on your toes too because of the new sponge attached to the lid!

Urban Decay All Nighter Spray - This is the first setting spray I've ever tried and I love it. It literally kept my makeup on from 9am to 11pm even in suffocating heat.

Urban Decay Triple Threat Travel Set - For only £10 I couldn't pass up this mini set of 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils.

The Body Shop Camomile Cleanser - This solid cleansing balm is amazing for taking off makeup in less than 5 minutes, review coming soon.

Dehydrated Konjiac Sponge - I ran into Superdrug to get a facecloth and saw these hanging up for £1.95 or so, I've been wanting to try a Konjiac sponge out for ages so I ended up picking it up.

Barry M Gelly Polish in Pink Punch - A beautiful bright pink high shine polish, I've had it on since I got it!

Barry M Limited Edition Nail Paint in Bikini - A blue toned lilac shade, like a dark version of Blueberry.

Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet in Frambourjoise - I'm obsessed with both of these. Frambourjoise is a very pinky red. It gives the effect of a bold red lip without the commitment.

Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet in Olé Flamingo! - This is a vibrant deep pink shade and I can't get enough of it.

Maybelline Master Smoky Shadow Pencil - This is a black crayon pencil on one end and a sponge on the other, I've been loving it to do subtle upper liner and it only takes a couple of minutes.

Next up is clothes:

skort detail

Black Crocet Gilet - £10 down to £3
Black Cami - £3
Skort - £10
All from Primark

New Look Smock - £25 down to £10
This is technically meant to be a fitted dress but I got this from the plus size section so it's far too big and sits perfectly like a smock.

Primark My Little Pony Jumper  - £10 down to £5

A few little cute bits and bobs from Primark:

Makeup bag - £3
Owl Socks - £2
Owl Drinker - £2
Polka Dot Drinker* - £5.99
3 Owl Nail Files - £1
Set of 9 Earrings - £1.50
Set of 3 Necklaces - £3
Fox Phone Case - £3
*from New Look

I hope you enjoyed this rather long post! Let me know if you have any of the things I picked up :)

What's In My Travel Makeup Bag

I'm heading off to Belfast tomorrow for a few days so I thought I'd show you guys what makeup I'll be bringing with me.
When I travel, I like to plan out what to bring before hand so I don't end up with far too many things that just take up space. I always find a good base, mascara, a palette some blush and a couple of lip colours are a good bet.

Garnier - 5 Second Perfect Blur Primer

Bourjois - 123 Perfect Foundation

Rimmel  - Wake Me Up Concealer

Soap&Glory - Kick Ass Concealer

Soap&Glory - One Heck of a Blot Powder

Benefit - Gimme Brow

Maybeline - The Falsies Mascara

Maybeline - Lasting Drama Gel Liner Pen

MUA - Eyeliner in Snow White

Essence - Silky Touch Blush

Rimmel - Natural Bronzer

MeMeMe - Beat the Blues Highlighter

Naked Pallet

Naked Pallet 2

As you can see, I'm keeping it pretty simple but at the same time have enough products with me to do a full makeup look if I need to. I mentioned a lot of these products in my last post which you can read here. I know bringing two pallets is probably overkill but hey, gotta be prepared!

Thanks for reading!

What's On My Face: Summer Edit

I did a What's On My Face Spring Edit post a few months back but I thought it was time to update you all on what I've been using more recently.

Most days during the summer I don't wear foundation (or any makeup) but if I'm going out or meeting up with people, I like to have something to even out my skintone as I've been left with a lot of scaring from eczema.
The foundation I've been loving is the Bourjois 123 Perfect Foundation. It's quite a matte foundation. I'd say it's a medium, buildable coverage. It's a higher coverage than I'm used to, then again I've never needed to cover anything up before.
C'est la vie.

It has yellow pigments to correct dark circles, mauve pigments to liven up dull complexions and green pigments to cancel out redness.

I have the shade Light Beige and it's the perfect colour for me.

This really does correct any redness and darkness which means there's not as big a need for my usual heavy coverage under eye concealers.

I've been using the Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer in the shade Soft Beige. It really brightens up the eye area with light reflecting pigments and this shade has a salmon tone to it which is great for correcting darkness.

To keep everything in place, I've been using Soap&Glory One Heck of a Blot. I proclaimed my love for this in my Quarterly Favourites post a couple of weeks ago and I'm still as obsessed with it.

It's a translucent powder that adds no colour to the makeup you're already wearing.

To add a little colour to my cheeks, I've been using my one true love - Essence Silky Touch Blush in the shade Adorable.

As you can see, this is well loved.
This is a constant in my makeup bag. I don't like very heavy or pigmented blushes, I'm more of a Benefit Dandelion girl. This gives the perfect flush of colour whilst looking completely natural.

Another makeup bag constant for me is the MeMeMe Beat the Blues Highlighter in Pearl Pink. I've said it before and I'll say it again, it is a complete dupe for Benefit High Beam and only costs €9.99!

I like to dab a little of this on the top of my cheek bones for a glowing look without having dewy foundation which I really dislike.

Unless I'm going out in the evening, I tend not to bother with eyeshadow and, as usual, just stick with my Maybeline The Falsies mascara.

You may think that's a new tube in the picture but I've actually had it for about 3 months and still can't get the plastic off...
I've raved about this mascara many times. I think what makes it my favourite is the spoon shaped wand.

Finally, to finish off, I pop some Benefit Gimme Brow on my brows in the shade Medium/Deep.

This is like the tiniest mascara made just for eyebrows. You can see how small it is compared to the wand on The Falsies.
It has pigment that attaches to the hairs and keeps them in place as well as darkens them. I've really been enjoying this over the past few weeks, it makes doing my eyebrows so quick!

And that's it! I like to keep it very natural and minimal in the summer so a lot of the products I use during the colder months get pushed aside while the sun is out.

I really hope you enjoyed reading this and thanks so much for stopping by, I've been shocked by how my pageviews just keep growing and it means the world to me.

Let me know what kind of look you like to go for in the summer :)

Doggy Beach Day

I was in the middle of taking photos for an updated What's On My Face post this morning when a family friend asked if I wanted to pop to the beach for a few hours with Misty. Being half mermaid, of course I said yes.
I thought it would nice to bring you guys along with us :)

My dog loves the beach so much but is terrified of waves so getting her to get in the water is near impossible. (lets not count when I lift her up, carry her out and dump her in to make her swim back to shore)

YIPEE

NOPE

Whenever we go I bring the frisbee which she likes to both play with and accessorize with it.

Ring donuts are a good beach snack because you can't tell if you're eating sand.

Rock climbing and ignoring your owner is a good way to lose your off leash privileges.

After all the excitement it was time to relax and eventually head back home.

I really hope you enjoyed this post. Thanks for reading :)

Maybeline Lasting Drama Gel Liner Pen Review

As I'm sure most of you are aware, Benefit recently released the They're Real Push Up Liner.
I have a post here from the day it launched if you'd like to read it.
Now, I really did like it but I really didn't like the €25 price tag.
HOWEVER, whilst watching Vivianna Does Makeup's June Favourites video, I heard her mention a Maybeline version of the Push Up Liner.
I immediately hit up google to find out what she was talking about.
The next day, I went straight to Superdrug and found the Maybeline Lasting Drama Black Shock Gel Liner pen.
It cost €11.43 which is basically €10 - a lot less than €25.

As you can see, just like the Push Up Liner, this has a little angled silicone nib that the product comes out of.
This makes application so easy if you aren't too skilled in the gel liner area (like me).

You twist the bottom to get the liner to the applicator. When you think you've run out of liner in the nib, just give it a little squeeze to get a little more out. It just saves you wasting any valuable product.

The liner is smooth and very easy to apply with no dragging on your eyelid.

Sorry about the desperate quality - this came off my iPhone.

If you need to fill in any small areas, just wait for the first layer to dry (only a few seconds) and go for it.
It doesn't disturb the eyeliner that you've already applied and doesn't leave any weird clumps.
I'm quite shaky in the hand department so I did make quite a mess of this on one occasion. That was down to me trying to rush rather than a fault with the eyeliner.
Overall it takes me a little under 10 minutes to get it spot on. That probably sounds like a long time for seasoned veterans but, like I said, I suck at eyeliner.

It says to use waterproof remover to get it off and they aren't kidding. I couldn't get it to budge without scrubbing my skin raw. Don't worry, I didn't, I used the Clarins Instant Eye Makeup Remover and it took it right off.

After trying and comparing both products, I've come to the decision to give Maybeline Lasting Drama Black Shock Gel Liner Pen, dupe status.

If you've had your eye on the Benefit liner but it's a little out of your price range (or you begrudge spending €25 on eyeliner) I suggest giving this a try.

Thanks for stopping by, hope you enjoyed this post!
